KCCL CLUB RULES:

Safety First – Always! 

Mandatory Safety Gear

✔ Eye & Ear Protection – REQUIRED on all shotgun, pistol, and rifle ranges. 

Firearm Handling

✔ Load Firearms ONLY when on a shooting station & it’s your turn.
✔ Keep firearms pointed in the target area at all times.
✔ Finger OFF the trigger while loading/unloading. (Watch out for thick gloves!)
✔ Gun actions OPEN unless on a shooting station & ready to fire.
✔ NO pointing firearms at the clubhouse, other fields, or people – ZERO tolerance!

Supervision & Authorized Personnel

✔ Minors (17 & under) must have adult supervision at all times. (KCCL Pullers are NOT considered adult supervision.)
✔ ONLY KCCL-authorized personnel may enter skeet & trap houses.

✔ ONLY KCCL-authorized personnel may touch or adjust any machines

Range Etiquette & Conduct

✔ Announce when stepping past the safety zone onto the field.

✔ Picking up shells is highly encouraged provided  it does not delay waiting squads.
✔ No firearms allowed in the clubhouse unless approved by authorized personnel
✔ No controlled substances, marijuana or alcohol before or during shooting – offenders will be removed.
✔ Respect the Puller – their word is final. Disputes go to management.
✔ Members may pull but must enforce safety rules as club representatives.

Safe Shooting Practices

✔ All firearms MUST be unloaded and actions open when people are downrange.

✔ ABSOLUTELY NO handling firearms while people are downrange – NO EXCEPTIONS!

✔ Before leaving the range: UNLOAD & CHECK your firearm before casing/storing it.

✔ Misfire Protocol – Wait a few seconds before opening the action. Carefully check for barrel obstructions.

Pistol Range Rules

✔ Shoot ONLY from behind the designated bench area (RSO Must be present for any exceptions).
✔ Keep safeties ON until ready to fire.
✔ Maximum muzzle velocity: 1400 FPS.
✔ Caliber Restrictions:

• .22 rifles may be used on the pistol range.

• Pistol Caliber Carbine Rifles are permitted on the pistol range.

• Any firearm exceeding 1400 FPS must be used on the rifle range.

✔ Check-in REQUIRED – Any pistol range users must register at the clubhouse before shooting.
✔ Firearms must be uncased at the bench and ONLY when no one is downrange.
✔ Targets: ONLY provided targets and paper targets hung in designated areas are allowed.

✔ Shoot ONLY at targets directly in your shooting lane – NO shooting at targets off to the side.

Rifle Range Rules

✔ Shoot ONLY from the designated bench area (RSO Must be present for any exceptions).
✔ Keep safeties ON until ready to fire.
✔ Caliber Restrictions:

• .17 HMR rimfire rifles must ONLY be used on the rifle range.

• Tracer rounds are strictly PROHIBITED.

✔ Check-in REQUIRED – Any rifle range users must register at the clubhouse before shooting.
✔ Firearms must be uncased at the bench and ONLY when no one is downrange.
✔ Targets: ONLY provided targets and paper targets hung in designated areas are allowed.

✔ Shoot ONLY at targets directly in your shooting lane – NO shooting at targets off to the side.

✔ No Smoking or vaping

✔ No Climbing on berms or sand backstops

Violations & Consequences

• Severe infractions will be handled by the club manager & board.

• Suspension or termination for extreme safety violations or reckless behavior.

Be a Responsible Shooter! 

✔ Never allow unsafe behavior – help keep everyone accountable.
✔ Be courteous & respectful to fellow shooters.
✔ Safety is everyone’s responsibility!
