I would like to take this opportunity to say "THANK YOU" to all of our members for another great year!! We could not do this without your help. To all of you that volunteered, I salute you. You are the people that help make KCCL "The Premier Shooting Sports Facility in West Michigan". We have continued to make improvements to YOUR club!! Including major road improvements, painting all buildings and fences, a rental golf cart for the sporting clays course, a 4 wheeler to service the sporting clays course, a new 3D archery course, new stands on the sporting clays course, and 2 new sporting clays machines. Again, I say "THANK YOU" to all that make this club GREAT.
Until next month… Tim
It’s Sunday night, November 28th, Thanksgiving was 3 days ago and Christmas will be here before we know it. This afternoon I was on the phone talking to a member and when I got off Julie said “you better go say goodbye to (we’ll call him Frank) he’s leaving for Iraq and Afghanistan”. He is one of our members who is a doctor and is leaving tomorrow to spend 3 or 4 months helping our injured troops. As I sit here thinking about the sacrifice he is making, leaving a secure practice and life to serve our country, I want to say “Thank You” on behalf of our members. I would also like to say “Thank You” to all that went before him. This has got to be an especially tough time to leave family and friends and head halfway around the world to be in harm’s way. We salute you!!!
Til next month….. Tim
Finally, fall and hunting season are here! For many of us sportsmen and women the wait is over and we are able to get out and do some of the things we cherish the most. I don’t know about you, but the ultimate high for me is being in the woods or duck blind. There’s nothing like the smell of burning leaves and gun powder. I would like to wish everyone a SAFE and SUCCESSFUL hunting season!
We have a great membership drive going that YOU can help with!! We will waive the initiation fee of $100 and will put all new membership names as well as the current members that brought them in a drawing to win a FREE membership for the following year. If our membership numbers increase then it would allow us to keep membership fees down, keep costs of lines down, continue to keep up with our cost of operations and give us additional money to keep making improvements!! One suggestion for improvement would be to replace our tables and chairs in the club house. So bring out a friend or guest to the club and show them all we have to offer.

With summer coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about Winter League. This year we are planning for our Winter League to be the Largest and Best yet!!! We have a lot of things planned to make sure everyone has a great time. For starters, we will be giving away a 28 gauge Browning over/ under just for signing up for the league. The gun is worth over $2500. Remember this is a FREE giveaway to all shooters of the Winter League. So, mark your calendars because like last year sign ups will begin November 16th, 2010. For signing up early we will be giving away an extra chance at winning the gun and you will get FREE practice lines. One of the things we will be doing this year is for anyone who shoots a 25 straight their name will go in a drawing to have a chance to win 5 free practice lines. So now is the time to get your teams together and come and practice. Watch for more updates on Winter League on the website and at the club. The Flyer will be in the October newsletter.
New Archery Range! It has finally happened. We promised our members 2 years ago that we would be updating and getting new animals for the archery course and it will finally happen this month. We will be installing 4 new bag targets and 10 new animals on the 3D course. The new 3D animals will be McKenzie ET Commercial Grade animals. We will have deer, some African species, warthogs, beaver, etc. For sighting in your bows we will have both an elevated and a ground stand with targets at 4 different distances. We will have10 animals on our walk-through 3D course with 2 shooting lanes at each animal. These targets are good for tradtional, compound, and cross bows. So come out and give it a try. If there are any archery experts out there, give me a call.We could use your imput. We will soon have the premier 3D course inWest Michigan.

Please join with your fellow club members to do some much needed jobs at the KCCL Work Weekend, May 15 and 16. So, please, set aside a day, or at least a couple of hours, to help us get the club spruced up. Call Tim at 676-1056 to sign up. A FREE lunch will be served to all workers on both days. Plus there will be some FREE shooting cards to thank you for volunteering. Remember, many hands make light work. The more guys who show up to work, the more we'll get accomplished.

Don’t forget to join us for a very special fund raiser. OnThursday,
April 22nd,KCCL will be hosting a delicious,all-you-can eat
spaghetti dinner to raise money for the SCTP kids. We
need to raise $3,000 to help pay for travel, lodging, and expenses
so our young wing shooters can go to the state shoot
in Detroit and the national shoot in Sparta, Illinois. Remember,
these kids are the next generation of KCCL members.
We need to do all we can to make sure that young people
get involved in, and enjoy, the shooting sports.
Please remember Larry Mennetti in your prayers. He is in
the hospital recovering from a stroke.
