I would like to say “thank you” to all of our members who helped out during the past year. All of the projects, improvements,and special events of 2009 would never have happened without all of you. Just look at what’s been accomplished! Our facilities have been painted and stained.Much-needed landscaping has been done. The Sporting Clays course has been improved. Signs, benches, and gun racks have been spruced up.None of these things would have been possible if members like you had not stepped up. It would take far more space than I have here to thank each of you by name. But please know that my wife and I really appreciate all of your help. And every time I get compliments on how great the club looks, I’ll think about all your hard work.Thanks to all.Have a Merry Christmas and Happy NewYear!

On January 1st, 2010, it will be necessary to raise the price of skeet and trap from $3.75 per line to $4.25 per line. 10 or 20-line punch cards will cost $40 or $80 respectively for a net price of $4.00 per line. We have not raised prices in 5 years, but due to a dramatic increase in costs we have no alternative but to increase prices. We have absorbed three increases in the minimum wage for pullers during the last 5 years and the cost of clays has nearly doubled, going from $5.00 a case to $9.00!We have put off a price hike for as long as we possibly can, but like most other clubs in the area now charging $4.00 or more per line, there is simply no alternative. I am truly sorry if these new prices put a strain on anyone’s budget. I don’t want to see prices go up any more than you do.

KCCL has the reputation of being one of the best shooting facilities in the state. Now we’re about to have a professional-looking website. Thanks to members George Nezlek, Jerry DeHondt, and David Lange,who are professors at Grand Valley State University, KCCL will have its website revamped by their students as part of a
class project. We are extremely grateful to them for upgrading the design and functionality of our club website at no cost. Whether you’re at the club sighting in or out hunting, don’t let an accident ruin a good time. Always follow the club safety rules and be safety-conscious when hunting. Every year there are tragic stories of hunting accidents.Make sure you’re not one of them.

KCCL has the reputation of being one of the best shooting facilities in state, if not in the entire midwest! But our rifle and pistol ranges, skeet, trap, 5-stand, and sporting clays fields are only part of our success story.You, the members, are what make our club special. In August,we hosted two very successful events. The West Michigan Sporting Clays Championship had 47 shooters take part in the main event on Sunday the 9th. Then on Friday the 14th, 87 shooters participated in the Mercantile Bank Charity Shoot to benefit the Seinor Neighbors Association. What made these events such a success were all the volunteers from our club that showed up to make these events run so smoothly.The outside events KCCL hosts are a real benefit to our club. But we could never do them without those of you who give up your time to help out. Thanks so much for all you do.

The Mercantile Bank Shoot is Friday, August 14th. I still need some volunteers to help out. If you’re available,please give me a call. I’d appreciate it. KCCL is pleased to be hosting the biggest sporting event of the year—the West Michigan Sporting Clays Championship—on August 8th and 9th.Come on out and shoot. Or, if you don’t want to shoot but would like to help out,we can sure use you.
We also have a new game to shoot the KCCL long bird! It’s set up on field number 5 with four different machines with birds from 40 to 60 yards. Come on out to give it try.
